The Schultz Kidz

OK, back to moving forward.

In the 10th grade, Deep Creek Junior / Senior High School (7th through 10th grades) produced "Bye Bye Birdie".  A neighbor, Missy (Yvette Hendon), played  Kim, the female engenue.  One of my best friends (Ed Neenen) played her boyfriend.  I was actually friends with almost everyone in the cast... but I was only an audience participant.

Well... I loved it!!  I was amazed at how this "stage play" moved me.  I was jealous that I wasn't involved.  "I can do that!" I thought.  Playing music in front of an audience was great!  But there was a whole lot more to this "Musical" thing than being in the band!  I guess I was drawn to the power you feel on a stage.  I didn't know it at the time, and really didn't know it until "Starlight Express".  But to stand on stage in the dark, with only a pin spot on your face, and share extreme emotions with a thousand people, through a song..... Well, ... there is no greater thrill!  I wanted that!  I wanted to try it... I needed to try it.  And it was 2 years before the opportunity arose for me to even audition for anything!
