Albert Schultz

Now here's where I have to tell you about my
Grandfather, Albert Schultz. He's unfortunately not around to enjoy his
Internet debut. He never even had the opportunity to experience it. But
he'll live through it if I have anything to do with it.
My Grandfather was an incredible influence on my
life. He was a musician (by night, bulldozer operator by day). He
couldn't read a lick of music, but knew every lick there was. He could
pick up any instrument, even if it was the first time, and within
minutes.... be sounding a melody. There was nothing that made him
happier... except maybe sharing his love of music with his Grandchildren.
So, needless to say, I was deep into piano lessons by
an early age... and hated it! My mother had the ol' timer on my baby
grand for my practice time. I eventually took up clarinet in elementary
school. At one point I even played the accordion for a while (my mothers
only musical experience). By the time I was 13, I was already playing
keyboards, guitar, and sax in many versions of my own band. At 14 I
studied for 1 year at the Peabody Conservatory of Music, in Baltimore. I
was even doing arrangements for my Junior High School Dance Band. |
